Such a busy week in Monkey class!

Monkeys had a wonderful time once again in Forest School. We made our own boats, gnomes, owls and hedgehogs with twigs. We now have our own very special tools to help us to cut & peel the bark off twigs. This is called ‘whittling’. We know we have to be very careful when we are doing this & we know we must not walk into the ‘blood bubble’ unless we are with an adult.

Big Monkeys have been learning about part whole models and bar models in maths. We have been doing many addition and subtraction sums! We love our topic ‘Magnificent Dragons, Surprising Spells & Enchanted Forests’. We read the book ‘Zog’ last week and we had to think about what our own dragon would look like.

In history, we have been talking about castles and looking at different types. We designed our own castle; some of us drew moats and drawbridges too!

This week, our story has been ‘Room on the Broom’. We found a lovely song to sing the story, too. We have been drawing our own witch and animals to sit on a broomstick and we have started to make our own fire-breathing dragons too. Mrs Beard made chocolate rice crispy cakes with us again on Friday. They were yummy. We talked about the various stages of making them, and then we wrote the instructions down & drew a picture. Busy, busy, busy!!!!
