What a productive week!

Here is the latest update, written this week by Ellalouise and Lilly.

In our English lessons we have been writing a poem inspired by 'The Dreadful Menace'. We have been working hard to perfect it, to make it Y5/6 standard. Our challenge was to write 4 or 5 stanzas, use appropriate language and it had to have the rhyming pattern ABCB.

In maths we have been learning about decimals, learning to convert them to fractions and vice versa. We have been trying to work as independently as we can.

In PE, we have been learning basketball with Mr Tomlinson and have learnt how to dribble and pass the ball using bounce pass and chest pass. We have been making good progress throughout our lessons. At the lesson we get to do a fun game called 'Shoot in the hoop'. The girls are on one side and the boys on the other and we battle against each other to see who can win in the end.

In art we have started a new topic, which is to learn about the life and work of Dale Chihuly, an American glass artist. We have been producing two pieces of art: a 'macchia' using coffee filters, felt tip pens and spray starch and a collaborative sculpture using used plastic bottles and sharpies. We are also producing a piece of 'Independent' work about Dale Chihuly and his work.

Please join us next week for more updates from Lion class.
