Friday 10th February 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back!

It has been such a fun Friday today, enjoying the different ways that we can break the rules and wearing our own clothes from home.  Everyone looked really good!

We have now come to the end of a happy and very productive half term.

Meerkats have enjoyed learning all about money for the last couple of weeks.  We have shown great determination to understand and remember what we have been learning.

In English we have started a new text - the story book "Farmer Duck" by Martin Waddell.  It is a heart-warming tale of about a hard-working, loyal duck whose good nature is taken advantage of by a very lazy farmer!  Luckily the other animals on the farm come to the Farmer's rescue.  We have been enjoying the book with some work on dialogue, with a focus on questions. In the whole class input, we were invited to come up and pretend to be either the farmer or the duck.  We had to ask each other questions! We then had to write them down in speech bubbles.  In the next lesson, we re-told the beginning of the story, making sure we included some dialogue in our writing.  Mrs Morel is so pleased with how we are all doing in our reading and writing.

The children have been having a great time in Thursday's P.E., moving expressively and creatively to the story of Jack and the Beanstalk.  In Tuesday's P.E., we have been playing Benchball and Hockey.

For our Topic work next half term we will be dissecting seeds, learning more about seed germination and growing different plants from seeds, and experimenting with different growing conditions.

In Design and Technology we will be designing, making and evaluating our very own fruit salad! Exciting times ahead!

Have a lovely half term holiday everyone.

Best wishes from Mrs Morel all the Meerkats children.
