Dear Parents and Carers,

We have been enjoying ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ by Roald Dahl, read by our lovely TA, Mrs Wiggins.  Today we came to the end of the story.  Thank you Mrs Wiggins for reading it to us!

In English, we have been reading all about ‘Farmer Duck’ by Martin Waddell. We have had lots of thoughts and ideas about the story.  In our writing we are pretending we are the farmer and have decided we need to say sorry to the duck.  We are looking forward to finishing our apology letters next week!

In Maths, we have been working very hard to understand multiplication.  We are learning what the ‘times’ symbol means and how 3 x 2 (for example) can be looked at as 3 lots of 2, or 3 groups of 2.  We will be learning about arrays next and then moving onto division.

Forest School was so great this week as some really amazing exploration and imaginative activities were taking place.  One example was an incredible bridge some children made across a ‘river’.  The bridge was made with a careful selection of little branches.  The bridge was then reinforced with moistened mud.  It was a strong bridge! Ranger Nina and Ranger Carly were so pleased with us that, this week, the WHOLE CLASS was awarded a Forest School Certificate.

In Art, we have been learning all about Georgia O’Keeffe and the kind of art that she created. Below are some photos of some finished pieces, inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe’s particular interests and style. Mrs Morel is very proud of everyone as they continue to try their best and go about all their learning so enthusiastically.

More photos to come next week as our work gets finished, so watch this space!

Mrs Morel is so proud of everyone as they continue to try their best and go about all their learning so enthusiastically.

Have a very happy weekend everyone.

Best wishes from the Meerkats ;)
