Kymbrook Primary School

Friday 28th January 2022

As usual the week has gone by very quickly.

On Wednesday, the whole school enjoyed a Dance-athon.  We had a really fun time practising lots of different kinds on dance moves which the Lions class children had organised for everyone.  The teachers all joined in with the dancing too and the whole school had a little bop at the end of the day in the hall.

We have started a new topic in Maths – learning about shape.  This week we have been re-capping on all the names of 2D and 3D shapes and how we can recognise them by their “properties”.

We are really enjoying a series of episodes of “Little Red Riding Hood”, on BBC Schools Radio.  We have so far written a diary extract.  We had to pretend to be her and even practised going into ‘role’ by doing some hot seating. This is where one of the children in the class pretends her character from the story and the rest of the children in the class had to ask her questions, like “What is your favourite colour?”  This was really fun.

In Science learning about everyday materials we have been sorting different materials into groups as well as more today about recycling.

What does recycling mean?

How can you recycle?

Do you recycle at home? How?

Do you recycle at school? How?

What do you think happens to the materials we recycle?

Is it important to recycle? Why or why not?

We then went onto explaining the process of recycling plastic for our activity.

Here are our Bridget Riley inspired Paintings- we hope you love them.

See you next week for more news from Meerkats!
