Friday 21st April 2023

It is exciting to have a new topic – ‘What can we see beside the Sea?’

We have started with the wonderful story ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’ by David and Rhonda Armitage.  We have already made some super story maps and are beginning to write a re-telling of the story.  So far we have written the introduction to the story.  Next week, we will continue our re-tells and we will be trying to use interesting describing words (adjectives) and –ly words (adverbs).

For our History work this week, we have been thinking about when we have ‘holidays’ – e.g. at Easter, Diwali, Christmas, Eid, the summer holidays, etc… Our next holidays are coming up…two Bank Holidays! We discussed these and everyone drew a crown and put it on their timeline, along with other special holiday times.  We’ll be looking at holidays in the past, so we will be writing to parents for help with this - asking them to bring in anything they have at home that they don’t mind sharing for our class display – old postcards, photos, pictures, seaside objects and so on.

We will be so busy in Maths this half term as we consolidate all our learning as well as fitting in some more new concepts.  Mrs Morel has told us that it is a very important time so we must be extra especially sure that we are always listening and doing our best.

See you next week!

Best Wishes,
