Welcome to the final Lion Class blog before half term

This week, we started to refocus on our Independent Topic work about World War II. The focus this time has got us all very excited as we are researching all about fighters and bombers. Some of us are creating posters, whilst others are going to be making some 3D models with papier maché. The drawings from some pupils have also been fabulous!

In Maths, we are now working on short multiplication. This has shown us how important it is to go on to TT Rockstars regularly so that we can develop fast recall of our times tables facts.

We continued to work on Science where we learnt about Refraction. This is when light bounces off a solid object and then travels in a different direction. Part of our lesson was about the eye and how we see. There was even a plastic model of the eye so that we could learn the names of all the parts of it.

Today, we all sang a song for Harvest Festival (though the sound quality was a little dodgy!) and we also introduced our charity Crisis and two of our pupils wrote a poem about homelessness called “Can You See Me?”. Both these videos have been uploaded to Seesaw so please check it out and leave us a comment.

Thankfully, we had a much drier Forest Schools lesson this week. After listening to the story of “Bog Baby” we enjoyed using our creative skills to make our very own Bog babies using clay and then decorating with lots of things from the field.

It has been a very busy half term and we are definitely ready for a break. We will be back in November. Enjoy your week!
