Here is the latest news from Year 5 and 6

Our main topic work this week has been to learn about the archaeologist Howard Carter. After researching information, we have been writing our own secret diaries, written first person about his discoveries in the tomb of Tutankhamun.

In Forest School on Tuesday, Ranger Nina and Ranger Carly showed us some of the new tools we have. We were able to use loppers to cut some wood and knives to whittle. We are so lucky to have these fabulous opportunities.

On Monday we finished our wonderful Egyptian mummy coffins. They are now proudly displayed around our classroom. Here are some photographs of our fabulous designs.

Our English work for the next few weeks will be based on a brilliant book by the author Emma Carroll, called ‘Secrets of a Sun King’. We are so far up to chapter 4 and have already done some fantastic quality writing this week.

Our Maths focus has been decimals. There is some really tricky concepts in this area, but we are coping pretty well so far. Lots of determination is being demonstrated in our maths lessons, which is one of our school values!
