Another busy week for us in Lion class!

Thanks for checking back to read our latest news.

We have been working hard to develop our writing this week and have written two pieces of work called 'balanced arguments' or 'discussion texts'. We started off by writing a piece about the question: 'Are Via's parents good or neglectful?'. This is about our class book 'Wonder'. After this, we then worked on an independent piece, where we could choose from a selection of questions. These included 'Are some footballers paid too much?' and 'Is it better to be a child or an adult?'. We have learnt the techniques and strategies we need to in order to write a balanced argument.

On Wednesday, we had our whole school Harvest Festival. We had prepared some class items and also had some songs we all sang. It was great to see the hall so full of our parents and carers, for our first proper Harvest Festival since 2019. Thank you for all the kind donations - these are being taken to Kings Arms Project in Bedford and will be very gratefully received.

On Thursday morning, we were lucky enough to have another robotics workshop. Mrs Smith, who hasn't been with us for a workshop for a while, was thrilled with our skills and resilience. First, we had to build our robot, which this time had to have two functions - being able to race and then switch to fighting mode. Once we had built a robot we thought would work, we then used the computers to write the code needed. This was TRICKY! Once we had solved any problems, we then had fun battling our robots.

In maths, we have been working hard at short multiplication and also learning a new method (for Y5) which is long multiplication. We are making good progress with this, but still need lots more reinforcement next week.
