Kymbrook Primary School

Physical Education

Each class receives one lesson a week from a qualified sports specialist from Premier Sport. In addition, teachers follow the National Curriculum programmes of study for Games, Gym and Dance.

We use our swimming pool in the second half of the summer term, every day when the weather allows.

Children from Years 1 - 6 are involved in team competitive events throughout the year with other primary schools. Sports Festivals are held at Sharnbrook Academy, Lincroft Academy and sometimes further afield in Bedford town schools.

Year 3 & 4 take part in the 'Create Festival' each year which is held at Sharnbrook Primary Academy.

Additional Physical Activity

At Kymbrook Primary, we participate in the 'Mile a Day' initiative. Staff and children actively join in with walking and running each day to keep our hearts and bodies healthy.

We are subscribed to '5 a Day TV' and staff use this, and other resources, towards our commitment to the engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity –  the Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that all children and young people, aged 5 to 18, engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day, of which 30 minutes should be in school.
