Jungle Adventures!
This week in Monkeys class, we’ve been swinging through the trees and stomping through the undergrowth with our exciting jungle-themed learning!
📚 We read Rumble in the Jungle and had so much fun meeting all the amazing jungle animals in the story. We spotted lots of rhyming words and even became rhyme detectives, hunting for words that sound the same. The children were fantastic at spotting rhymes and even came up with some of their own!
🎨 We got crafty too! The classroom was full of colour and creativity as we made our very own paper plate animal masks. Lions, tigers, zebras, and more came to life with paint, glue, and lots of imagination. We also used our shape knowledge to create 2D shape monkeys – it was great fun choosing which shapes to use for each part of the monkey’s body.
🔢 In maths, we’ve been learning about grouping into equal amounts. The children worked really hard to share objects fairly and make sure each group had the same number. We used lots of practical resources and the children were brilliant at explaining their thinking – well done, Monkeys!
✉️ To end the week, we wrote messages to our favourite jungle animals. The children had lovely ideas and wrote kind, thoughtful notes to lions, snakes, parrots, and more. It was a lovely way to practice our writing and share what we had learned about each animal.
What a fantastic jungle journey we’ve had – well done, Monkeys class! 🐵🌴🦁
