Welcome to our first Lion class blog for this half of term. Happy Bonfire Night!

We have had a busy and productive week….

In Maths lessons we have been practising our multiplication and division written methods. We had to remember different techniques, including writing a ‘happy zero’ when doing long multiplication and different ways of showing the remainder in division- aren’t we clever?

In English, we have been finishing off our work based on the wonderful book ‘Letters from the Lighthouse’ by Emma Carroll. We have been learning about newspaper articles and writing our own, all about the dramatic rescue of a boat full of refugees. Our newspaper articles are fabulous!

We have started a new unit in our PE lessons with Mrs Morgan, which is gymnastics. We are making our own routines in small groups- these have some elements we have to include, such as a starting/ending position, a still position and a whole group movement. We will be working on developing these over the next few weeks and hopefully showing our routines to the whole school when we have perfected them!

Our topic lesson this week has been a fun one- we are learning all about the bomber and fighter planes of WWII. Because this is an ‘Independent’ task, we can choose how our work is presented. We have chosen a whole range of final ‘products’- these include papier mache models, posters, Top Trump cards and a group display board.

We have finally (after many delays due to lots of absences) been able to announce who our Head Girl and Head Boy are for this year. We also voted for House Captains, School Council and Safety Squad representatives. What a busy time!
