Dear Parents and Carers,

This week we explored printing with Autumn leaves.

We had really good fun in the process…the ‘product’ isn’t always so important!

Mrs Morel thinks the children have shown good skills using the ‘drip painting’ technique. She also thought our printing was super!

So, we have had a very busy week. On Monday we started our new book for the week – ‘Handa’s Surprise’ by Eileen Browne. Children have loved the story – we will be carrying on with it next week.

Tuesday was an amazing P.E. day. First we had a trip out to the Alexander Sports Centre for a fantastic morning of Multi-Skills activities. We haven’t enjoyed one of these for a while. In the afternoon, it was P.E. again with Miss Jordan from Premier Sports. To finish the day off a lovely calm R.E. lesson with Mrs Rahman. Phew!

We have been getting to grips with number bonds to 10 and extending this to 20! Following on from this, we are going to be doing lots of activities based around addition and subtraction. Everybody tried really hard on our first 2 times table test today – it was harder than we thought so we need to keep practising from 1 x 2 up to 5 x 2, (to start with). Only two children in the class got 5 out of 5. So next week, Mrs Morel hopes we will all have practised a little bit more.

We were very respectful in the two minute silence on Thursday, remembering all the soldiers who have fought for us in the wars and sadly not returned. Reverend Timms was there too and gave a sermon. The Key Stage 2 children recited from memory the poem ‘On Flanders Field’ and showed us their beautiful poppy pictures. They are on Mrs Augustine’s office windows, if you want to take a look.

Next week, we start our Design and Technology lessons. So please, mums and dads and carers, don’t forget to give your child a cereal packet for Wednesday’s lesson. Thank you!

Best wishes to you,

From the Meerkats. xxx
