Friday 3rd December 2021

It’s been such a busy week!

As well as keeping going with some of our usual lessons (we are beginning to get to grips with fractions!) we have been busy rehearsing for our performance at the WI Christmas Party which takes place over the road at the Village Hall. We chose 6 songs: three the guests wouldn’t know and then three old favourites- Santa Claus is coming to town, White Christmas and Let It Snow. Some of us were a bit nervous as we took our places on the stage, but it all went brilliantly and Mrs Smith was so proud of us.

Also, we have spent time this week planning and preparing for our topics ’Fab Finish’. As we have been learning all about WWII, we decided to raise money for the charity War Child UK which helps children caught up in war and conflict around the world. Our target was £100 and so we had to think of great ways to raise money. We settled on a fun morning in our classroom. This featured 8 games to play, a book stall, adopt-a-teddy stall and refreshments. All of the other children visited our classroom to take part. We bought sweets for the prizes but had to be careful not to spend too much as this would eat into the money we raised. The morning was a great success and we were thrilled to raise a magnificent £190.41. This was rounded up to £200 with a generous donation from a member of staff. We will be sending this off to War Child UK and we are sure they will be very grateful.

Mrs Smith, Mrs Rahman and Mrs Wiggins would like to say a big WELL DONE to everyone in Lion class for their efforts with our fundraising event.
