Welcome to our latest blog page.

This week our English focus has been on writing newspaper reports linked to a dramatic event in our novel ‘Secrets of a Sun King’ by Emma Carroll. We have had to work hard to make sure we are including all the standard features of a newspaper. Another key focus has been on proofreading and editing our work carefully, as even our brilliant writers can still make mistakes sometimes! We all do it!

Earlier in the week we finished our magnificent Egyptian crowns. Mrs Smith was blown away by the creativity and perseverance we demonstrated. Look at this wonderful work:

Our next piece of topic work is an ‘Independent’ task about mummification. An ‘Independent’ task means we can make our own decisions about how we present our work (for example, some children have chosen posters, PowerPoint presentations, leaflets, information guides and small displays), but we all have to make sure that we are producing the best quality work we can. It turns out that mummifying a body was a pretty gruesome task!

Next week is the last one before half-term. We can’t believe where the time is going!
