Welcome back to our awesome Zebra news!

We kicked off our new topic of Around the World in 80 days with our Sparkling Start.  We played card games, dressed in non-uniform, we started to read the book and watch the video for Around the World in 80 days and we had our own English tea party where we tried some new foods. We learned some new card games like Old Maid/Chase the Ace, Go fish and Higher or Lower.  It was a great day.

We had another Robotics day.  We built and programmed a race car.  We worked in groups of 3 or 4 to build the cars and took turns writing the programming on the computer.  We got to race and battle them.  Some of us thought the hardest part was the building of them while others thought it was the programming.  We had great fun and really feel like we are getting better at programming and building the more times we get to do it.

We have been learning a new instrument called the Steel Pan Drums and we have already learnt 2 songs.  One is about raindrops and the other is about learning the notes G and A. Our teacher is Mrs Hynes and some of us remember her from last year’s singing lessons.  We get to choose our partner to share the drum with each week.  Most of us think it is quite easy to learn but some of us find it a bit more difficult.

Not long ago the school council got us new equipment from the money raised at our Athlete visit.  We got all sorts of new equipment such as balls, tennis rackets, stilts, scoops, skipping ropes, bean bags, quoits, frisbees and much, much more.  We got some of the equipment in the colours of our school houses.  We are really enjoying this stuff at playtime.  We also got new basketball nets and nets for the football goals from Friends Association so playtime is really amazing and exciting.

See you next time for an update on our adventures.
