Friday 7th May 2021

It’s been another busy week for us in Lion class.

To celebrate World Maths Day on Wednesday, we designed some maths games for the Year 2 children to play. We tried hard to make our games engaging, fun and to make the younger children think hard. The weather wasn’t quite on our side and we had to cope with wind and rain- it’s lucky we are a hardy bunch!

Another highlight of this week has been that we were able to watch a virtual performance by the Philharmonia Orchestra. We also joined in with one of the pieces with some body percussion. The brilliant thing about this concert was that all of the pieces were by women composers. The conductor was a woman and there was a lady doing BSL- it was fascinating to see how expressively she signed the music.

Finally, a big part of our week has been the battles on TT Rockstars. We had two battles, Lion boys v Lion girls and Lion class v Ash class (the Y5/6 at Thurleigh). Thanks to super-human efforts from some children in our class, we are thrilled that we are currently beating Ash class, but they are getting ever closer to us. It is very tense! The boys v girls competition is SO close!

That’s it for this week. More news next Friday.
