Friday 11th June 2021

Welcome to Lion class weekly blog.

We’ve had another busy week (well actually only 4 days!).

On Thursday we took the opportunity to learn about the annular eclipse by reading news articles about it and then we made very quick and simple pinhole viewers. We were all unsure if the cloud would clear, but it did and we were all able to see the partial eclipse (in a very safe way).

In maths this week we have been learning about 3D shape. As well as having to learn lots of different shapes, we have also explored nets and this links to our new computing unit, which is all about building models.

In PE on Wednesdays, we are developing the physical skills of the Foundation and Y1 children over the course of four weeks, by planning a series of games to build their skills and team work. We are developing our coaching skills and learning how to encourage and help younger children.

Also this week we have started ‘Well-being Wednesdays’. For the last hour of the day we are allowed to work on a project of our own choice. We have chosen a wide range of ideas; most of them are DT/ art related including clay work, model making, sewing and drawing. We are hoping for some wonderful pieces of work by the end of the next five weeks.

Finally, this week we have been able to join some new interesting clubs. These include multi-sports, cooking, board games and mindfulness colouring.

That’s all for this week- see you next time!
