Hello readers!

The week has really flown by in a flash!

A BIG THANK YOU to Meerkats (and the whole school) for the amazing goodies you brought in today to support the Friends’ Christmas Raffle Hampers!! The children loved being in Mufti and they were all very well turned out.

For Anti-Bullying week we had a big focus on treating each other kindly and using kind words.  When we work together in class and play together in the playground, it is always important to listen to each others’ ideas, take turns and encourage one another with kind words.  We worked on some collaborative art and made a huge odd socks poster.  We worked together kindly and co-operatively. Our odd socks poster was given a round of applause by the whole school in achievement assembly.

In English, we have written a re-tell of the story “Handa’s Surprise”. What an achievement!  We had to think about our sentences carefully and we are getting much better at remembering our full stops and capital letters.  Mrs Morel is really pleased that our spelling, handwriting and choice of words is improving with every day!

In Maths we have been learning how to draw and use our own number lines to work out addition and subtraction problems. We have been tackling some challenging Fire of London and Safari Animal Word Problems.  Some were tricky but it is fun thinking hard about things!

We are investigating levers and sliders in Design and Technology and have had a few lessons already. We cannot wait for our next lesson so that we can keep going with our “Moving Picture Story Book”

In History, we have been learning about the Great Fire of London.  Here is the piece of work we did today (Friday) showing the events of the Great Fire of London - illustrated in a comic style. We loved doing this and we are very proud of our work.

We finished the week off with a lovely sing-song and dance to “Have you seen the Muffin Man?”, except we changed the words from Drury Lane to Pudding Lane – because that’s where the Fire of London started!

On a final note, well done also to Parker and Sophie for becoming School Councillors – Mrs Morel knows you will do a fantastic job.  You will be super at letting the rest of the class know what you have been chatting about in the School Council meetings and, of course, the rest of the class will help you with anything as well if they need to.

Best Wishes,

Meerkats x
