Kymbrook Primary School

Friday 24th March 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

In our topic work we have been thinking about what schools were like in the Victorian times.

We have been finding out about the past by asking questions such as:

  • What did the school buildings look like?
  • What were the lessons and the teachers like?
  • What was school equipment like?
  • What were the punishments like?

Here are some posters the children made!

It has all been very interesting, especially learning that our school building (apart from Lions Class) is itself a Victorian building.  We were all fascinated with the photo of Kymbrook School and noticed what is the same and what is different when we went outside to compare. Photographs are a great way to find out about the past!

We had a lovely time on Thursday in the school garden. We tidied up, weeded, watered and planted vegetable seeds and flower seeds. We have been making and recording our observations of how our beans are growing and also the sunflowers.  We are looking forward to taking these home in the pots we decorated, at the end of term.

We have all worked so hard, especially this week, and will deserve our Easter holiday that is not too long off now!

Best wishes to you,

From the Meerkats. xxx
