Friday 7th October 2022

As usual, a busy old week here in Lion class!

On Thursday, we were excited to go on our first sports visit for this year. We went to Sharnbook Academy to take part in tag rugby and quicksticks hockey. Our rugby team did brilliantly, winning all matches except for the first one. Jensen was picked out by the sports leaders and awarded a certificate for 'Honesty', one of the sports values. The hockey players split into two groups and played 7 matches each. We had mixed results with both teams getting a loss and draw or two, plus some wins. Freddie was recognised for his 'Determination' and was awarded a certificate. Well done everyone!

In our extended reading lessons this week, we have been reading texts around the theme of Black History Month. As well as brilliant reading practise, we have had some thought-provoking and mature discussions about the themes raised.

Our English work has focused on writing our own 'balanced argument' texts. We took a question from our novel 'Wonder', 'Are Via's parents good or neglectful?'. We have learnt that we have to provide evidence for both sides of the argument, without giving our own point of view.

Finally, in our science lesson we have been learning about the impact of drugs and alcohol on the body. We have all found this very interesting.
