Kymbrook Primary School

Friday 28th April 2023

We are fully back in the swing of things after the Easter holiday.

Our main focus is preparing our Year 6 children for their SATs in a couple of weeks time, but thankfully we have managed to have plenty of time for fun things too!

To start the week, we went on a sports trip to Sharnbrook. Half the class were 'Festival' and the other half 'Competitions'. We took part in a range of Commonwealth Games activities, including basketball and netball, archery, badminton, hockey, rugby and sit-down volleyball.

In maths we have been revising fractions, decimals and percentages this week. We have also completed two practice arithmetic tests (even the Y5!) in order to feel more confident for the SATs in May.

This term, we have started a new unit in D.T. Our job is to design and create a brilliant board game, with an Ancient Greece theme. Last week for our Stunning Start, we had a Games afternoon, where we played lots of board games. This gave us some initial ideas. Then last Friday, we were luck enough to be visited by a man called Darryl, who is a board game designer. He gave us lots of brilliant tips. Mrs Smith has ordered some thin pieces of wood, which we are going to use to make a frame/playing surface/ box for our game.

In PE with Mrs Morgan we have been practising our throwing and batting skills in cricket. This is handy as we have a cricket competition coming up in a couple of weeks. In PE with Mr Kenneford we have been playing tennis.
