At Kymbrook, we work on the system of a ‘basic skills’ morning and a creative curriculum afternoon. School starts at 9.00 when the children line up on the playground and are collected by staff and taken into their classrooms.
We are organised into four classes. Monkeys - Reception, Meerkats - Year 1 & Year 2 children and Gazelles - Year 3 & 4 children, Lions - Year 5 & Year 6 children
Our School Day
|8:00am||From 8:00 a.m. Breakfast Club children begin to arrive in school.|
|8:50a.m||From 8:50a.m. onwards members of staff enter the playground to enable parents to drop children off safely into our care. Please park in the Village Hall Car Park and use the crossing provided.|
|9.00a.m||At 9:00a.m. all the children line up in their class lines to begin their school day.|
|9:10-9:30 a.m||The Children all partake in 'Sounds Write' which is our phonics scheme. The children who have completed 'Sounds Write' ( normally Year 3 & 4 pupils ) follow a specialised grammar programme with Mrs Smith. 'Sounds Write' is taught in small groups around the school. Children go to the group suited to their 'stage' of learning.|
|10:30 - 10:45 a.m||Assemblies - Monday is Celebration Assembly children can bring acheivements from home to share e.g. swimming certificates, trophies, experiences like learning to ride a bike etc.|
|11:00-11:30 a.m||Everyone Reading In Class ( E.R.I.C.)|
|11:30-12:10p.m||Teachers discretion, this session may include hand writing, grammar work, or Topic Preperation work.|
On Monday Wednesday and Thursday this is dedicated 'Topic Based' Curriculum time. We use our Pupil focussed Topics to teach all Foundation Subjects, Science, R.E. and I.C.T.
On Tuesday Gazelles Class, lion Class and Monkeys Class have 'Premier Sport' for half of this session.
On Friday Gazelles Class, Lions Class and Meerkats Class have 'Premier Sport' back to back with French Lessons and Library Time.
