Kymbrook Primary School

Friday 31st March 2023

It has been a lovely ending to our topic today, as based on the story of Handa’s Surprise

We have all been engaged in some food technology, making our own fruit salad.

Last week, we tasted some fruit from the story. The children tried avocado, mango, guava, passion fruit, a beautiful ripe clementine that still had its leaves on, as well as a large pomegranate and an unusual fruit called a loquat. The children thought the fruit tasted absolutely delicious, especially the mango that was deliciously sweet, juicy and ripe. (Some children were a little unsure about tasting new things but decided they really them after all!)

Here is a picture of the food ingredients that we combined into a fruit salad. We poured on either/or/both sweet and zingy orange and mango juice/apple juice.

We also did our final bean plant growth recording before planting them into the decorated pots. We ended the term with some further technology, making some necklaces using pasta.  The children had very good ideas and had excellent designing, cutting and joining skills. Everyone got to take their sunflower and bean plant home – hope they grow well!  The children also gratefully received their chocolate goodies to take home – I wonder if anyone can wait for Easter to eat them?!  We promised a photo of our amazing Georgia O’Keefe inspired flower paintings…here it is:

HAPPY EASTER
