Welcome to Zebras 2024

Our first term in autumn 2023 we learnt about the Stone Age.  We did all sorts of fun, amazing activities.  Some of our favourites included our Sparkling Start where we made dens and Stone Age Bread and ate it in our dens.  We also loved cave painting, learning about information from the Stone Age and science where we looked at rocks and fossils.

We had a residential trip to Grafham Water Centre for 2 nights.  We were in groups mixed in with our new friends from Thurleigh.  We did all sorts of exciting activities including on the first night a Grafham challenge where we were blindfolded and needed to go through a trail holding a rope and helping each other even though we couldn’t see. We loved staying up late in our rooms and having night feasts of sweets with our friends.  The second night was a movie evening where we watched Ratatouille and ate popcorn and crisps in our pj’s. Our exciting activities included high ropes where we did crate stacking and leap of faith, low ropes, wall climbing, archery and problem solving. We also did pioneering where some of us made bridges or cars or animals that stood up and we did bush craft.  We had hot chocolate at night and got to buy souvenirs from the gift shop.  We all had an amazing time and faced different challenges that pushed us to our limits, but we all succeeded.

The term was also full of a sports festival, a gymnastic show to the school, helping KS1 as the choir for their Christmas play, our Christmas party and a Panto trip.

We are now in the spring term and 2024!  Our topic this term is called From Snozzcumbers to Perfect Potions and is all about Roald Dahl.  We kicked off our topic with a Sparkling Start where we decorated our room to look like Charlie’s Chocolate Factory by making giant sweets to hang from the ceiling and walls and we watched the BFG movie.  We have a huge collection of Roald Dahl’s books in our classroom for everyone to read either on their own or in our groups.   We have started to learn about his life and made a timeline of all the books he wrote.  We discovered he wrote many different things and even invented 500 of his own words.

We have started Sing On lessons with Mrs Jo to learn some songs we will perform at a concert at the Corn Exchange in Bedford at the end of the term.

We hope you have enjoyed this and come back next time to hear what we have been up to.
